Beta testing for Chapter 3?
Hi all! I don't know if this has already been asked, but I'm just curious whether beta testing for chapter 3 has started yet? Is ANet looking for any beta testers for chapter 3? If they are, how would one go about being a beta tester for them?
Thanks in advance!

Prophecies had a Beta weekend once a month until release for people who pre ordered. Factions had a couple of beta events, one for pvp and one for pve and a headstart for preorder people. Chapter three will most likely be similar in that you will have access to Beta events by preordering. There isnt enough info on Chapter 3 yet to even speculate when it's beta will be.
Now I think milias is refering to Alpha testing which is a closed testing of a game before beta that only a select few get to participate in. Most likely only Anet employees and or specific people invited by them. Alpha is not something you can simply apply for or buy a preorder key for. How to become an alpha tester is unknown and like I said before it may only be Anet employees who get to participate in early testing.

Alpha testing for chapter 3 is ongoing as we speak, and regular players from both the PVE and PVP side of the game are participating.

Have you asked Gaile or ArenaNet about how to get involved in closed testing?

Dang, guess I missed it, then. Don't think I had a chance of getting in with the in-crowd anyway

*hugs Gaile for a third time*
*gets slapped with a restraining order*

EDIT 2: Doh, silly me, it's disabled >.<

Alpha Testing is typically all "internal" aka the dev team staff reporters... i have very rarely seen any alpha testing that involved the public... and when it did it wasn't really public, just people were chosen from random from other events or other betas they have participated in...
Beta testing is universally know as open to the public and people register to be in it...
however Anet does not need to test server loads and such because the orgional guildwars has already performed that the only parts of 3 that would any need for a public beta testing would jsut be based on content and any "new" features that the 3rd chapter may introduce...
I would not expect anything different than what factions brought everyone...
everyone currently running guildwars will most likely get acess for a beta weekend shortly before relase and of corse preorders will most likely get another headstart...
the way Anet is "expanding" on an existing game generates really no need for large beta tests... hope that answers some questions for you... now if they went and create a whole new game then yea expect there to be a large beta event...

Alpha testing by top guilds is a common practice with Anet, but I don't think they're looking for more atm.
Beta testing will be the preview event we get in about 1-2 months.

yupe beta test after GW3 will be released just like GWF
Live streaming is good for this case, and Anet has exploited the streaming to keep up with the coming release.
